Description:

Vitis vinifera  or common grape represents thousands of cultivated varieties and they are grown on every continent except for Antarctica. Grapes a significant agricultural species and the fruits are used both for eating and wine making. The relationship between humans and grape is ancient, as far as Neolithic times.

Grape is a very ancient hexaploid and there is significant variation between cultivars.
