  • Taxonomic Range
The taxonomic range of a gene family indicates the most recent common ancestor (MRCA) of all children members in that family. The number numbers next to each taxonomic range indicates indicate how many gene families from the search results have that MRCA. Check the check box in front of a taxonomic range , will narrow down refine the search results to families that have the MRCA. For example, check "Magnoliophyta" will narrow down the returned families to those that are Magnoliophyta specific.

  • Organisms Included
  •  indicates the species of a member (a protein) of a gene family.
  • The number next to each organism indicates how many gene families from the search
  • have any proteins
  • results have at least one member from that specific organism. Check the check box in front of an organism, will narrow down the search results to families that have any
  • proteins
  • members from the organism.

The logical operation for multiple selections of the filters is AND. For example,
  • checking
  • check Arabidopsis thalina and Zea mays from the
  • organism filter, will return any gene family that has Arabidopsis protein(s) as well as corn protein(s)
  • Organism Included filter. The results will be refined to gene families that have Arabidopsis genes as well as corn genes, but are NOT limited to Arabidopsis and corn.
